TVB Series: Middle-Aged Women in Power

(How can TV graphics compare with the Movies?)

Middle-Aged Women ("Chung Lui") is the improper derogatory term for women just over 30, with some life experience and has aged well. Perhaps these Middle-Aged Women have even more charm than those selling their young skin and 'career line', not the inner qualities. Middle-Aged Women may be even more beautiful to watch.

Remember Idy Chan, Margie Tsang, Anita Yuen, Theresa Lee, Esther Kwan, Kenix Kwok and Jamie Chik? They have all returned to television carefully choosing 1 strong series with a talented male lead. Back on television today, these Middle-Age Women must use their beauty tricks covering signs of aging under high definition TV with thick foundation and eye liner. All the "wow", "oh", "hey", "ah" sounds from audience starts a hot public topic where their acting is easily criticized. Back in the day, they were once really popular with audience giving high praises of the beautiful performance. Suddenly, many years later facing the camera again, did they get a little rusty? Can it be compared to the past? Results, it is inevitably critical now. If there are comments to a series, the responsibility falls on these Middle-Aged Women. Just like "Born Rich", which is a series dominated by men, lead actor Gallen Lo was able to maintain his "First Brother" status, but what about the 3 leading ladies (Kenix Kwok, Jamie Chik, Anita Yuen)? They seem to have disappeared from the TV screens, in the short term none of their names are listed in the upcoming series cast list.

Flora Chan from the recent "Suspects in Love" is the same Middle-Aged Women, similarly has been popular before, is married and has children and kept her appearance well, but what happened when she came back to do a series? Still just one series and disappeared?

Last week's 2-hour finale of "Suspects in Love" got averaged 27 points beating the hot impersonating show "Fun With Liza and Gods" (26 points). At least it can prove something.

"Fly With Me" Not rising, No Breakthrough

"War And Beauty" all evil, "Dance of Passion" all yellow, "The Gem of Life" way too long. So what do people love? They love "new". "Fly With Me" sells the typical HK Girl, flying, super powers and this is the first type of series Hong Kong has done. But the story also wants to talk about the hardships a Middle-Aged Woman faces, wanting the love in reality and fantasy to come true. Does this work for Middle-Aged Women Ada Choi?

Last week's "Fly With Me" only got 27 points, lower than "Suspects in Love". One reason is ATV's "Here Come Ajumma" has maintained TV ratings of 6 points for a long period of time now, taking away all the older audience. "Fly With Me" has to work on getting more younger audience in order to get a rise, but today what do the young people like to watch?

Flying? How can the graphics on TV beat Movies? They tried their best with the graphics, but that still didn't touched the audience.

Ada Choi also has left the young people market. After her marriage, she always has her husband on the tip of her tongue, even if she goes 10x more sexy, she's unable to fulfill the fantasy men have in women. Ada went all out in the series, kissing several men and would often bring surprising results, Netizens said: "It's only in the Middle-Aged Women". She appears exaggerated in her actions and expressions, but don't forget that she did bring us a lot of comedy from "To Catch the Uncatchable".

Turns out that after becoming a Middle-Aged Women, everything is different. This is reality, it's sad.
