Lydia Tong is indignant: disagrees with the criticisms of certain artists

Lydia Tong’s “Bonsai Cat” posting from a couple days ago angered both artists in the entertainment industry as well as netizens alike. Even though she has since deleted the offensive posting and has indicated that she is in the process of “reflecting” on the situation, many feel that she is not sincere and is still very much indignant about what happened. After a few days of self-reflection and reviewing Weibo postings, yesterday Lydia posted a message saying that she has learned to look at the situation from other people’s perspectives and finally understands where she went wrong. However she is still “reflecting” on the situation and wants to completely comprehend it before truly apologizing because she is still indignant about the comments and criticisms of certain artists. She also indicated that if so many people did not ‘jump on the bandwagon’ to criticize her, she may have ‘comprehended’ the situation earlier – whatever the case, she recognizes that people just want her to be less willful and selfish.

When the situation occurred several days ago, renown fashion designer Dorian Ho – a good friend of Lydia’s mother Isabella Kou – had also strongly reprimanded Lydia via Weibo. Yesterday, while attending an event, he was asked about the situation and said that he truly feels that Lydia’s mother Isabella should not have intervened in the situation. Dorian said: “I feel that as Lydia’s mother, it would have been better for Isabella not to have said anything. When the situation occurred and she started defending her daughter, it caused even more anger and criticism from netizens and artists.”

Dorian indicated that by Isabella responding that Lydia’s posting (the picture and comments) was merely a “small matter”, it gave people the impression that she was trying to protect her daughter and doesn’t know how to “teach” her daughter. Dorian added: “Lydia should have taken responsibility for her own actions and faced the criticisms herself instead of having her mother come out and respond for her.” Dorian indicated that he is good friends with Isabella and believes that she is a very understanding person, so she should not take offense to his comments: “A lot of people support my stance and feel that I am helping Isabella teach her daughter.”
