Lydia Tong's "Bonsai Cat" photo on Weibo causes an outrage of Artists' criticisms

("Bonsai Cat")

Lydia Tong recently uploaded a "Bonsai Cat" photo on Weibo, revealing a cat trapped in a baby bottle. She said that its cute and won't have to be worried of losing him. Minutes after the upload, it led to an outrage on Weibo, where many artists criticized her. Artists that responded to the "bonsai cat" photo includes Lynn, Chilam Cheung, William Chan, G.E.M and many more. At 8am after the rage of responses, Lydia still did not feel bad as she fought back in English: "Wish u would find out the truth before criticizing others in public next time..." Most of the negative comments were deleted by her shortly after. Yesterday her mother Isabella Kau attended a beauty salon press conference and clearly prepared for her daughter, she expressed that she has lost contact with her daughter.

Isabella later tried to help her daughter by stressing that the "bonsai cat" is a photoshopped photo because that night when she saw Lydia's photo, she felt shocked and nausea. Lydia immediately called and said the photo was fake and just a prank, she just wanted to play with her friends. Isabella said: "When I heard that the photo was fake, I calmed down. Couldn't believe that the next morning the comments could be that crazy. Although its a prank, I was still angry at her. God mother (Carol Cheng) was also upset at her because it is very wrong to take life to joke around with."

Isabella said that Weibo is a public site and people should be responsible for whatever they say. Should respect life and should not be used to joke with. Speaking of Lydia being strongly hated, Isabella said: "I can't control it, she's only 21 years old. Can't say she's young or old. She doesn't have much life experience, but she did apologize already." People are saying that Lydia doesn't seem like she understands that she's wrong, and is blaming others? Isabella said: "She already said sorry! (You told her to say it?) No, I couldn't get in touch with her, she needs some time to recover. Her younger sister told me not to yell at her sister, fearing that if the scolding gets too crazy, she'll run away from home. This time she should learn a valuable lesson." Asked if her daughter has psychological problems? Isabella immediately said: "She didn't buy one, it's illegal."

----- Outraged Artists Comments -----
Including: Pakho Chau, Chilam Cheung, Myolie Wu/Koni Lui, Don Li, Eric Suen, Anne Heung...

Pakho Chau became very emotional and expressed that someone needs to call the police. Lydia's mother Isabella immediately apologized on his Weibo. In response to Lydia's comment about "not knowing the truth before criticizing in public", Pakho said: "I feel that she's still has an unwilling heart. (Do you feel that she's irresponsible for her actions?) Before I would think that she just doesn't know better, but now I am disgusted by her. I am a tad disappointed in her."

Chilam Cheung commented on Lydia's Weibo in response to the comment she made to him, to first do research on the photo before criticizing her, this made Chilam quite upset and expressed that he's indifferent towards these types of people. Later, when Chilam accepted an interview over the phone he said: "I feel that these type of people do not feel the pain unless they experience it. You are not saying that I'm a liar right? No one is suppose to lie, why don't you say there's a terrorist attack then, let's see how the country responds to you! Even wrote such comments, there is a limit to being a good person."

Cat lovers Myolie Wu and Koni Lui posted cute, heartwarming photos of them playing with their kittens on Weibo for a "silent protest" to Lydia's 'bonsai photo'.

Don Li continued to criticize Lydia on Weibo saying that he's feeling sad for her behavior.

A "pirated Leah Dizon" scolded the young model: "Still being stubborn! Ridiculous!"

Some artists like Eric Suen considered her young age. He expressed: She is just a little girl, we should all take that into account and cut her some slack!" Margie Zhuge also expressed that everyone should give her another chance because she had no cruel intentions.

Anne Heung: Are you kidding, no way! Show some respect.

Real Ting: "Are you crazy?"
